Summary

The Associate Director of Labor Relations is responsible for assisting with all labor communication, investigations and communications with the New York City Hotel Association and Unions. This position may lead to further responsibilities throughout the local metropolitan area. This highly visible role assists in short and long term planning of the HR function and is heavily involved in executing HR initiatives.  Responsibilities in this role would include, but are not limited to: Supporting the Area Human Resources structure for five (5) Hyatt Hotels in the New York City Area. They should act as coach, adviser, and consultant to the hotel’s leadership teams. The position is also responsible for facilitating and creating new training for hotel leaders to better understand the Industry Wide Agreement. The Associate Director of Labor Relations would report directly to the Area Director of Human Resources.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the New York City hotel industry and detailed familiarity with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The selected candidate will have exceptional multi-tasking skill, with knowledge of New York City employment laws and policies. A Human Resources Generalist background, with particular interest in conflict resolution will be beneficial.

Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment

  • Refined verbal and written communication skills 

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneNote, etc.)

  • Previous experience with HR systems preferred (ADP/EIS, Taleo, Kronos, etc.)

  • Professional presentation skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent HR experience

  • Previous experience in union environment strongly required 

  • 2 years HR Generalist experience

  • Proven leadership skills

  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader
